About The Author
Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bob Pettinato is a very recognizable personality there, as well as throughout Lackawanna County. He has led a life richer than most people can even dream of.
Bob is a successful entrepreneur, with a business acumen matched by few. Contracting and realty are his areas of expertise, although he began his career as an innovative and enterprising civil engineer, eventually joining his family’s construction business, which later became PACE.
His love for Northeast Pennsylvania prompted him to seek public office, so that he could give of himself to correct the wrongs and do right for the people. He served as the City of Scranton’s Director of Public Works before being elected as Lackawanna County Commissioner, where he and Charlie Luger made sweeping changes to the county government while cleaning up the rampant corruption.
Bob Pettinato is a man of imagination, and that imagination recognized the area’s potential as a tourism destination and helped to lay the groundwork for the development of Montage Mountain, the Stadium, Glenmaura Golf Course, and the surrounding business, commercial, and residential development that are now anchored by those sites. Bob also envisioned and brought together the county’s Italian-American community to create La Festa Italiana, now in it’s 41st year. He and former Commissioner Charlie Luger established the county park system, including the Lackawanna County Coal Mine Tour; they also established a communications center in the basement of the county administration building that would become todays’ Emergency Management Agency.
